Patchings Art Festival 2014 - 'the creative camera' workshops |

We are pleased to announce that 2014 sees us return to Patchings Art Festival with our popular two hour creative camera workshops. In association with Outdoor Photography magazine this years festival is set to see the biggest involvement for photography at this very popular four day arts event. As well as our workshops there will be superb talks and presentations by some truly inspirational photographers covering all genres and styles, Patchings Festival 2014 is the 21st year of the famous festival which attracts around 20,000 visitors across the four days. Widely recognised as one of Europe's premier arts festivals it attracts visitors from all over the Uk, Europe and even world wide. Set in the stunning surrounds of the converted farm it truly is an amazing venue and festival with an atmosphere one could call 'the Glastonbury of the arts world'. The workshops will be based around the creative use of our cameras and using them to capture images which portray our creative vision. The will be some technical elements to the workshop to help participants gain the best results from their camera but these will be presented in the best way for each individual on the workshop no matter what level of experience they are. We will be thinking about compositional techniques and how to achieve compelling images that tell a story, we will consider how the the use of focal length has an effect on your images, how you can achieve presence in your key image components, the use of filters to work with available light and creative techniques to experiment with and employ to stretch your creativity . The workshop will be in a friendly and relaxed environment, we will tailor the tutoring to the needs of everyone in the small group to ensure everyone feels they gain from the session. The workshop structure will be fairly dynamic to allow us to tune the experience to the participants on the day. By booking in advance of the workshop we will contact you to understand your requirements and level to help us tailor our teaching, you will also receive a workshop pack containing pre-workshop information and in depth explanations of some of the techniques and concepts we shall be touching on during the two hour session around the beautiful Patchings grounds. The workshop session will be all about using your camera and making images, not listening to us talk about image making, we will spend time with each participant on a one to one basis to help them smooth out any issues and aide everyone in capturing images they will be proud of. Just over half of the workshop will be practical image making with the last 40-45 minutes being back in our base in the Outdoor Photography marquee where we shall demonstrate simple and effective post processing techniques using Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and the excellent Nik Software plugin collection. Over the four day period of the festival we will be running workshops at the following times:
All workshop attendees will also get a digital accreditation as credit for their learning and a £25 voucher towards any of our 1to1, half day or full day workshops throughout 2014/15. The cost of the workshop is £35 which includes your festival entrance ticket normally priced at £7.50 (£6.50 concessions).
