"To spend a week with a great bunch of photographers in such a stunning part of the country, solely concentrating on my photography has been a real pleasure. I've learnt things from all the photographers on the trip, made some great friends and enriched my photography immeasurably. Can't wait for next Novembers 'tog trip'!"

It is with great pleasure and excitement that due to the success of the 'photographers break' experience we have offered dates twice yearly in Feb/March and Oct/Nov every year since 2013. In 2016 / 2017 we explored some fantastic locations around North Yorkshire and further afield in Northumbria and we witnessed one of the most stunning displays of the Milky Way I've ever been fortunate enough to see.

This photographers break up in beautiful North Yorkshire is slightly  different from a traditional photography workshop in that it is more of a 'togs' holiday or break, a chance to get together with a group of fellow photographers of all ages and abilities to spend up to 7 days dedicated to photographing the stunning coastal landscape and the glorious North Yorkshire moors in what we hope will be a beautiful winter whilst still getting lots of tuition, coaching, mentoring and assistance with your creative journey from an experienced photographer and educator.

We will be staying in a luxurious log cabin in the village of Liverton, which is only a few miles from stunning locations for seascape and landscape photography. We will be visiting iconic locations such as the picturesque fishing villages of Staithes, captured so stunningly photographically by Frank Meadow Sutcliffe, Saltburn with it's famous pier and Whitby. But, we will also be hunting out many other well know locations such as Saltwick Bay with it's famous sea stack and shale shelves, and importantly many other lesser know locations and hidden gems such as Port Mulgrave, the industrial intrigue of Skinningrove and the superb South Gare / Paddy's Hole on the mouth of the Tees.

As well as exploring the coastal areas around this picturesque part of the country we will also be able to capture classic winter images of some of the glorious locations across the North Yorkshire moors, it's many idyllic villages and classic locations such as the distinctive Roseberry Topping near the village of Newton under Roseberry made famous by the many stunning images from Joe Cornish, we will also have a chance to explore lesser know locations around the area such as two historic and disused quarries.

Our locations will be discussed and planned as a group ahead of the trip to ensure we pull in all the locations that everyone wishes to photograph. We will obviously work quite dynamically over the week assessing the weather conditions, tides and light to ensure we are able to make the most of the winter season and capture each location we choose in the best or most dramatic light we can.

As well as being a chance to dedicate some serious time to your landscape photography the break will give you the opportunity to spend time with other passionate landscape / seascape photographers, where we can share techniques and workflow ideas, you can see how other photographers approach their work and enjoy some enjoyable discussions and lighthearted banter.

"A whole week of photography! Just what I needed to get to grips with new camera.

Rob & Karen are both great hosts and clearly love photography. The time spent away was both informative and a great laugh. Very relaxed, yet extremely productive time behind the camera.

I feel I have advanced further during that week than I have in several years of going it alone.

Recommend to all."

2013 was the first time we ran this style of trip and with great success, spaces sold out well in advance and all the photographers who came along had a great time exploring this fantastic area of the country making superb images. We are already getting enquiries into 2021 so be sure to book early as places on these trip are strictly limited and selling fast.

Our base in Liverton will also give us an excellent location to spend a day heading further north up the coast to Northumbria should we decide to, allowing us to visit locations such as Bamburgh, Dunstanburgh, Lindisfarne and some of the delightful bays and beaches along this stretch of coast such as Embleton and Football Hole. The whole area really is a photographers dream / playground allowing us to explore our personal vision and creativity as well as capturing the 'honey pot' location images.

This break provides superb value with accommodation, breakfast and evening meals included, we also have in depth knowledge of the best landscapers breakfast stops to recharge after an early morning shoot. The week will be informal, light-hearted and completely shaped by the requirements of the photographers joining us.

Although it isn't a formal traditional workshop it is much more than this with Rob more than happy to share his workflow techniques as well as help you explore and improve your technical and creative skills.  We will engage in some excellent discussion and image making to do North Yorkshire, it's dramatic coast and beautiful moors justice in the winter. We will also have time to spend exploring the use of post processing software including Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom and the excellent suite of Nik plugins amongst others. Rob is an accredited Adobe Education Trainer so you can always be sure your learning experience is at the heart of all our workshops and photographers breaks.

One final note, the accommodation is a luxurious log cabin with full heating and double glazing, the accommodation is on a shared basis between the trip participants with  1 twin bedroom, 1 double bedroom and a further single. For this reason this is why numbers are limited to three with two sharing a twin room and either single occupancy of the double room or space for a couple. This is because this trip is primarily a photographers learning trip rather than a formal workshop, giving a group chance to dedicate a week, or as long as chosen by individuals within that week, to photography with a group of like minded individuals........ an immersive photography experience. The group dynamic and peer learning as well as the instructor led learning are a massively important part of the whole weeks learning and development experience.

If you would like more details  CONTACT us via e-mail or give us a call via the number on our contacts page, places are strictly limited and selling fast so book early.

RiseRiseAn intermission from the 'Dark' series with an injection of colour from one of the most stunning sunrises I have ever witnessed.....also the only time I have visited Saltwick Bay and had the place to myself.
